Abstract

|
INTRODUCTION
Spatial Disorientation(SD, or Flight illusion) continues to be an important cause of
human error related to aircraft mishaps. The current statistics showed that SD was
responsible for about 4% of all major aircraft mishaps, about 14% of all fatal aircraft
mishaps, and about 22% of all aircraft mishaps under instrument flight condition.
Flight experiences of all world Air Force show that to counter SD mishaps, the best
solution-may be the only solution-is SD physiological training.
Since 1983, the SD Physiological Training System was built in Air Force China, up to
now more than ten thousands pilots are trained, and got satisfactory results.
